We went on the Sunday for the finale of the show. In hindsight we should have done more research into where the best place to stand was. We had an alright view though. We could see the dog, the 30ft girl, and her even taller uncle from where we were stood. They walked past and then were lifted by crane on to a waiting boat. It was probably the most creative use of a crane that I've ever seen.
Then we had to walk very briskly to the pier head to get a glimpse of the boat going up and down the river. It was all very impressive and there were literally lots of people around us who seemed to be enjoying just as much as us. I imagine that the shops, bars and cafes in Liverpool were doing a roaring trade all weekend, and it seemed like the whole city was out on the street to watch the puppets in action.

The theme of the first issue is 'Home and Away'. Sadly this doesn't mean that we've made a zine about the Australian soap, although in hindsight that probably would have been quite good. No. It's about being at home or going away, kind of.
So there's a bit about where one of us was born, a bit about where we've been on holiday and a bit about the general area we live in now. Also there's some other stuff about music and it doesn't really fit in with the theme, but that's okay.
We're debuting the first issue of Young Explorer at the Victoria Baths Zine Convention 2012, which is at Victoria Baths in 2012. More specifically, 19th May. As well as the first issue of Young Explorer, we'll also have copies of 'Crime Zine' available, an a6 mini zine with monoprinted portraits of your favourite TV detectives. On top of that we'll have some badges and things like that so we can try and squeeze as much money out of you as possible. We'll probably post some pictures when we've got all these things ready.
